How to Become a Wilde K9'er
STEPS
01 - TELL US ABOUT YOUR DOG
Start by telling me about your dog's personality, history, routines, needs and social behaviour! Wilde K9 welcomes dogs with different personalities and needs, including intact dogs and dogs who aren't comfortable around other dogs. Every dog is assessed individually, and we'll work with you to determine what environment and care style will help them feel safe and comfortable.
This helps me get to know your dog a little better before meeting them and gives me a better understanding of what they may need while they're here!
If your dog needs a little extra time to build trust with a new person before receiving care, we can arrange additional visits to help them become familiar and comfortable with me at their own pace 🤍

02 - MEET & GREET ASSESSMENT (STEP 1/2)
Come meet me, explore Wilde K9 and let your dog get comfortable in their new surroundings! Part of the assessment includes some one on one time with your dog so I can get to know them without their owner present.
03 - FECAL TEST
If your dog is approved to move forward to Part 2/2 of their assessment, a current fecal test completed through your veterinary office is required before their Trial Day Assessment.
Daycare and boarding environments are ideal places for intestinal parasites to spread and thrive. This is why I take the extra step of requiring a current fecal test before your dog’s first trial day. Your dog’s health is our top priority, and this helps us protect all the dogs in our care from parasites that can spread quickly between dogs and, in some cases, even to people.
WHY IS A FECAL TEST REQUIRED?
04 - TRIAL DAY ASSESSMENT (STEP 2/2)
Your dog will spend a day experiencing a typical, fun and engaging day at Wilde K9 while I assess how they settle in, interact, play, rest and respond to their new surroundings.
05 - FIND THEIR RHYTHM
Every dog is different! Some dogs settle in right away and act like they've always been here. Others need a little extra time and a few more visits to feel completely comfortable.
There's no rush. I'll go at your dogs pace and help them find their own Wilde K9 rhythm!
NEED TO EXPEDITE THE PROCESS?
If you have last minute plans, we can combine the Meet & Greet Assessment and Trial Day into one 8 hour assessment day. The fee for this option is $100 and must be booked in advance.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE MEET & GREET? 🐾
Your one hour Meet & Greet is a chance for you and your dog to get comfortable, explore Wilde K9 and get to know me.
We'll start with a chat about your dog's personality, routines, needs and temperament, followed by a tour of the space.
If time allows, I'll spend some one on one time with your pup while you step out. They'll be on a slip leash during this time as a standard safety precaution. Although our outdoor yard is fully fenced, the slip leash allows me to safely guide or retrieve them if needed while they explore and we get to know each other.
The Meet & Greet is just the beginning, their Trial Day Assessment is where we really get to know them. 🤍
WHAT IF WILDE K9 ISN'T THE RIGHT FIT? 🤍
Sometimes, we may feel that Wilde K9 isn't the best environment for them, and that's okay!
Our priority is making sure every dog in our care is comfortable, happy and set up to succeed. This includes being able to settle and relax during scheduled downtime.
Rest is an important part of the day at Wilde K9. All dogs deserve the opportunity to relax and recharge peacefully. A dog who is consistently pacing, whining or barking during downtime can make it difficult for the dogs around them to settle and feel comfortable in their own spaces.
If we feel your dog is struggling to settle or that our environment isn't the right match for their needs, we'll always be honest with you.
